2009 Wedding Dress Trends

wedding-dress-trends-2One of the most important pieces of clothing you’ll select is your wedding gown. With the vast array of styles available, keeping up with what’s “in” and what’s “out” can often be mind boggling! Here’s a list of a few of our favorite fashion-forward trends for the 2009 and 2010 wedding seasons.

1. Shorter dresses
If the look of the traditional wedding dress has never really appealed to you, you can be ultra chic and modern on your wedding day with a short wedding dress. Most shorter wedding dresses hitting the runways have fitted bodices with full skirts that stop at or just above the knee. These dresses are PERFECT for destination weddings!

2. One shoulder dresses
Asymmetrical wedding dresses are exciting alternatives to the traditional strapless wedding gown. The exposed, bare shoulder has a distinct modern look and a sexy vibe. Not to mention it is a great way to show off those toned arms!

3. Detailing
Today’s wedding dresses emphasize detailing with added embellishments such as subtle beading, bows and, of course, lace. Look for subtle detailing that’s both ultra-feminine, yet elegant.

4. Vibrant color
While white is still the “traditional” favorite, more and more brides are opting for dresses with color. This year’s runways showcased wedding dresses in bold shades of reds, golds and blues. Not that daring? Consider a pale pastel color instead!

No matter your choice, the most important trend to follow is that of a glowing bride… which means wearing exactly what YOU love!
