Wine 101

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

via-ritzy-beeHave you ever found yourself overwhelmed by an massive wine list? We’re here to help! A general guideline is to pair lighter foods with lighter and heartier foods with bolder wines, but there are no rules. Below is a perfect guide prepared by the Mirassou Winery. Looking for a unique guest favor? Why not consider wine with personalized labels?

Chardonnay: Easily a guest favorite and goes with a multitude of dishes. This wine is an excellent match for shellfish, poultry and veal dishes. It is also a delicious choice with flavorful cheeses and lighter salads.

Pinot Grigio: Perfect for an outdoor spring or summer wedding this versatile wine pairs great with grilled poultry or seafood.

Sauvignon Blanc: For seaside or summer weddings, again this is a wine that pairs well with the lighter cuisine such as seafood dishes, vegetarian fare and lighter pastas.

Riesling: Having spicy dishes at your event? Nothing balances spice a delicate, yet fruit forward Riesling. With a hint of sweetness, it’s also a perfect match for rich treats like chocolate-dipped strawberries or cheesecake.

Pinot Noir: A delightful match with everything from pork to salmon to grilled chicken. This extremely versatile wine is great for a cheese course as well!

Merlot: Luscious and velvety, merlot enhances the flavor of veal, pork or beef dishes of virtually any type.

Cabernet Sauvignon: A full-bodied, rich and dark red wine like this will complement your main course of steak, tuna or other hearty foods. Oh forget dessert… this wine is a knockout with chocolate!

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend…

new-picture-5After the expense of a wedding gown, flowers and an all-out reception many brides’ options for jewelry become rather bleak. Don’t worry… we have the answer! Everyone has heard of celebrities “borrowing” their jewelry for the red carpet. Well, we haven’t found a way for you to borrow it yet, but we did find a way for you to rent it! Amazing jewelry is the perfect complement to your fabulous wedding dress! Two sites we like are Adorn Brides (featured in Instyle Weddings Fall 2009 magazine) and Bag Borrow or Steal. Both websites allow brides to rent from an array of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even clutches! Of course we spent time looking at all the gorgeous jewels… all for the sake of our brides of course ;)

new-picture-3If you are looking for a fun creative way to tell your guests where they will be sitting….why not give them a custom button! You can create each button image based on that specific guest’s personality! It will not only show them where their sitting (it can be attached to a card with their name and table number) but will also give them something to talk about with your friends and family!  Now, what would your button say….???

Real Wedding: Erika & Liz

Friday, September 4th, 2009

real-wedding-erika-and-liz_page000From perfectly time ceremony music (thanks to Erika!) to the sparkler farewell, no detail went unnoticed at this fabulous event. As guests arrived at the Davis Islands Garden Club, they were treated to mango mojitos, an array of light hors d’oeuvres and a gorgeous view of the Tampa Bay. Hot pink petals flanked by blue hydrangea created the aisle that led to a bamboo arch decorated with curly willow, greenery and clusters of flowers in ivory and shades of pink. Erika and Liz exchanged the most heartfelt vows we have heard in quite some time.

Once inside of the club was completely transformed with pink specialty lighting by The Production Crew. The Bride’s Bouquet created centerpieces of peonies, hydrangeas and curly willow which sat atop blue pin tuck linens. The real show stopper was the couple’s choreographed saucy Latin dance! Never one to disappoint, Catering by Design served up a scrumptious dinner. Soon after the dance floor opened to the mixed tunes of Advance Entertainment. The festivities came to a close, but not without excitement! Erika and Liz departed through a flurry of sparklers to a completely decorated shiny blue Jeep. (We must admit, we developed a Jeep crush during this process).

Even though the wedding was a smash hit, we were sad it came to an end because the girls were such a dream. However, we are confident we will be seeing them in the near future…we cannot wait!
