Real Wedding: Erika & Liz

Friday, September 4th, 2009

real-wedding-erika-and-liz_page000From perfectly time ceremony music (thanks to Erika!) to the sparkler farewell, no detail went unnoticed at this fabulous event. As guests arrived at the Davis Islands Garden Club, they were treated to mango mojitos, an array of light hors d’oeuvres and a gorgeous view of the Tampa Bay. Hot pink petals flanked by blue hydrangea created the aisle that led to a bamboo arch decorated with curly willow, greenery and clusters of flowers in ivory and shades of pink. Erika and Liz exchanged the most heartfelt vows we have heard in quite some time.

Once inside of the club was completely transformed with pink specialty lighting by The Production Crew. The Bride’s Bouquet created centerpieces of peonies, hydrangeas and curly willow which sat atop blue pin tuck linens. The real show stopper was the couple’s choreographed saucy Latin dance! Never one to disappoint, Catering by Design served up a scrumptious dinner. Soon after the dance floor opened to the mixed tunes of Advance Entertainment. The festivities came to a close, but not without excitement! Erika and Liz departed through a flurry of sparklers to a completely decorated shiny blue Jeep. (We must admit, we developed a Jeep crush during this process).

Even though the wedding was a smash hit, we were sad it came to an end because the girls were such a dream. However, we are confident we will be seeing them in the near future…we cannot wait!

Real Wedding: Becky & Ken

Friday, August 28th, 2009

new-picture-202The style created is best described as “beachy elegance”. Becky definitely wanted to incorporate elements of the beach. Shells, starfish and linens that reminded guests of the ocean waters evoked a Florida feel. The grandness of the Lakewood Ranch Country Club’s staircase set the classy tone as guests made their way to the ballroom. Signature martinis, a cappuccino bar and a rocking dance floor kept smiles on the guests’ faces. So after eight months of planning and a boatload of Starbucks lattes, we pulled off the feel to a tee!

Real Wedding: Kacie & Nicky

Friday, August 21st, 2009

new-picture-8With it’s 1920‘s style stained glass windows, hardwood floors, ornate chandeliers and a 53’ domed ceiling, the Mirror Lake Lyceum in St Petersburg, FL was the perfect setting for Kacie and Nicky’s wedding. Kacie’s colors of rich copper and blush pink beautifully complimented the historic building. The look was completed with hints of green. Imagine vintage, rustic and femininity all wrapped up into one!

Following the ceremony in the grand hall, guests were escorted to the lounge downstairs which was decorated with copper satin linens, bailer’s twine and rustic candle lit vases. Gathering around high top tables, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Upon reentering the grand room for dinner, guests witnessed a complete transformation! Copper specialty linens were accented with chocolate satin napkins and  mahogany chairs. Delma’s, The Flower Booth created alternating high and low centerpieces of curly willow, cherry blossoms, astilbe and hanging votives that adorned the table tops.

As always, Catering by Design created a fabulous buffet of grilled vegetables with lemon sesame drizzle, lemon roasted chicken breast with a chardonnay cream and three-cheese pasta purses with coconut cream and habanera. To top it off? A carving station offering beef tenderloin with tomato chutney and horseradish basil cream. As delicious as this sounds… the best was yet to come. A dessert station featuring cheesecake lollipops, chocolate truffle shooters and many more scrumptious treats opened as the guests made their way to the dance floor. One would think that guests would have been too full to move, but Kevin Kramer got everyone their feet with crowd favorites! As the night came to an end, the bride and groom exited through a flurry of sparklers and made their way to the lighted Cinderella-esque horse-drawn carriage. And off they went… Happily Ever After!

Real Wedding: Roia & Brad

Monday, August 10th, 2009

new-picture-6Contemporary elegance was the theme of this wedding! As soon as we met Roia we were excited… the reception was being held in the new Hazel Hough wing of the Museum of Fine Arts in St Petersburg, Florida. On the terrace overlooking the bay, guests enjoyed cocktails and tasty hors d’oeuvres by Mis En Place. Once inside, the modern black and white swirl linens topped with tall glass vases of orchids helped set the tone of the evening. Specialty breakout lighting in multiple colors swirled the walls as guests danced the night away to the sounds of None Other, a local cover band. What better way to remember the evening? In a photo booth of course! Shutterbooth provided a fun alternative to a guestbook. Guests wrote the bride and groom a message next to a copy of their photo strip. Not only was this a fabulous wedding, but we also added a new favorite venue to our list!

Real Wedding: Natalie & Dan II

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

new-picture-2The excitement didn’t stop with the hula hoop act! As the sixth course came to an end, guests were left in awe as an aerialist of Cirque USA performed on chiffon ropes amidst a second swirling light show. Natalie decided to put her personal twist on the traditional bouquet toss. Perched high above the the girls on a seat created by the the chiffon ropes, she tossed the bouquet out to the lucky “next girl”!

Throughout the entire evening, R-J VIda of  Advance Entertainment kept the dance floor packed with guests of all ages. Everything from Michael Jackson to Black Eyed Peas resinated throughout the historic venue. When not on the dance floor, guests enjoyed a photo booth provided by Shutterbooth. Guests were given a copy of their photo strip, complete with the couples’ personalized logo, as a momento of the evening. Another copy was placed in a scrapbook allowing the guests a place to write well wishes to the couple. In need of a little “pick me up”? The bride and groom had that covered too! In addition to the 5 layer cake, a display of mini dessert, including everything from mousse florets atop mini plastic spoons to mini strawberry shortcakes in shot glasses, tantalized the taste buds! Don’t think for a minute the excitement ended with a four hour reception! Complete with red and gold asian lanterns, specialty Asian-influenced linens, laser lighting by The Production Crew and the best spun tunes by Advance Entertainment, this after-party rivaled Ybor City’s nightlife!

In the end I think we can all agree that this mission was accomplished… the guests were WOWED!

Here are a few highlights of Natalie and Dan’s Vietnamese wedding ceremony:

Real Wedding: Natalie & Dan I

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

new-picture-1From day one Natalie knew she wanted to give her guests the “WOW” factor. When the planning process began Natalie was completing her medical residency and Dan was preparing for his bar exam. Not only did we celebrate her graduation and him passing the exam, in the end we celebrated a perfect wedding.

After participating in both Vietnamese and American ceremonies, guests were invited to the The RITZ Ybor, a historic theatre in downtown Tampa’s Ybor City.  In honor of her heritage, Natalie chose red and gold as her wedding colors. Red symbolizes happiness, marriage and prosperity; gold represents strength and wealth (Personally, we think that is a great start!). The Production Crew saturated the entire room with red lighting and lit the stage with the couple’s names.  Rose Garden created alternating high and low centerpieces of curly willow and deep red roses that sat atop red linens accented with gold satin napkins and gold chivari chairs. Instead of basic table numbers, the bride and groom named the tables after terms of endearment in both Vietnamese and English.

Once seated, the show began! Hao Wah Catering began the family-style dinner with a show-stopping delivery of the night’s first course. To the dramatic beat of “O Fortuna”, waiters entered carrying plates of roast duck set ablaze! With eight more courses to go, the bride wanted to keep the guests entertained so after the third course the overhead lights dimmed and an amazing light show began (you rock Brett!), but that wasn’t all… a member Cirque USA performed a hula hoop act! One dancer and twenty something hula hoops later everyone was left with the same question… “How did she do that?”
