Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

via-ritzy-beeHave you ever found yourself overwhelmed by an massive wine list? We’re here to help! A general guideline is to pair lighter foods with lighter and heartier foods with bolder wines, but there are no rules. Below is a perfect guide prepared by the Mirassou Winery. Looking for a unique guest favor? Why not consider wine with personalized labels?

Chardonnay: Easily a guest favorite and goes with a multitude of dishes. This wine is an excellent match for shellfish, poultry and veal dishes. It is also a delicious choice with flavorful cheeses and lighter salads.

Pinot Grigio: Perfect for an outdoor spring or summer wedding this versatile wine pairs great with grilled poultry or seafood.

Sauvignon Blanc: For seaside or summer weddings, again this is a wine that pairs well with the lighter cuisine such as seafood dishes, vegetarian fare and lighter pastas.

Riesling: Having spicy dishes at your event? Nothing balances spice a delicate, yet fruit forward Riesling. With a hint of sweetness, it’s also a perfect match for rich treats like chocolate-dipped strawberries or cheesecake.

Pinot Noir: A delightful match with everything from pork to salmon to grilled chicken. This extremely versatile wine is great for a cheese course as well!

Merlot: Luscious and velvety, merlot enhances the flavor of veal, pork or beef dishes of virtually any type.

Cabernet Sauvignon: A full-bodied, rich and dark red wine like this will complement your main course of steak, tuna or other hearty foods. Oh forget dessert… this wine is a knockout with chocolate!

2009 Wedding Dress Trends

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

wedding-dress-trends-2One of the most important pieces of clothing you’ll select is your wedding gown. With the vast array of styles available, keeping up with what’s “in” and what’s “out” can often be mind boggling! Here’s a list of a few of our favorite fashion-forward trends for the 2009 and 2010 wedding seasons.

1. Shorter dresses
If the look of the traditional wedding dress has never really appealed to you, you can be ultra chic and modern on your wedding day with a short wedding dress. Most shorter wedding dresses hitting the runways have fitted bodices with full skirts that stop at or just above the knee. These dresses are PERFECT for destination weddings!

2. One shoulder dresses
Asymmetrical wedding dresses are exciting alternatives to the traditional strapless wedding gown. The exposed, bare shoulder has a distinct modern look and a sexy vibe. Not to mention it is a great way to show off those toned arms!

3. Detailing
Today’s wedding dresses emphasize detailing with added embellishments such as subtle beading, bows and, of course, lace. Look for subtle detailing that’s both ultra-feminine, yet elegant.

4. Vibrant color
While white is still the “traditional” favorite, more and more brides are opting for dresses with color. This year’s runways showcased wedding dresses in bold shades of reds, golds and blues. Not that daring? Consider a pale pastel color instead!

No matter your choice, the most important trend to follow is that of a glowing bride… which means wearing exactly what YOU love!

5 Tips for Hosting an Outdoor Wedding

Friday, June 12th, 2009

backyard-wedding-via-town-and-country-event-rentalsOutdoor weddings are romantic, beautiful and intimate but  can also cause for unexpected challenges.  The best way to prepare yourself is to know and understand what to expect.  We have put together our top 5 challenges so that you will see only sunshine during your outdoor celebration!

1. Have a Plan B: You may have your heart set on being married outside but one thing no one (not even us!) can control is Mother Nature. Pick a back-up location that you feel comfortable using. Then cross your fingers and hope for that perfect sunny day!

2. Make Guests Feel Comfortable: Set up a lemonade or water station for guests. When it’s 98 degrees and humid and your guests are sitting in the blistering sun waiting for you to make your grand entrance, your guests will really appreciate the cold refreshments. In another move to make your guests comfortable, provide pashminas or parasols. (Added bonus – they can make for some great photos!)

4. Sound: Be sure you’ve got a good sound system figured out. People came to hear you exchange vows – make sure they can!

5. Prepare for Wind: Some outdoor settings can call for windy conditions so be sure to remember that if you don’t see your flower petals down the aisle. Instead, allow guests to toss them during the recessional.  And don’t forget to ask your hairstylist to create a style that is “wind-proof”!

5. Permits: Don’t forget to contact your city park department or other local government to confirm whether or not your outdoor celebration will require a  permit.  If your Ceremony or Reception is taking place in a local park, be sure to ask about trash removal, candle or torch lighting, and photography.

Fabulous Lounge Areas

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

furniture-ii_page000Kick back and relax!

Lounge areas are gaining popularity among brides. Not only do they provide additional (and comfortable!) seating, but lounge areas are THE perfect way to encourage socializing among guests! These days wedding furniture rental companies offer everything from vivid cloth pieces to sleek white leather to wicker oceanfront decor. Brides can literally turn their cocktail hour into a true “lounge”  by scattering cocktail tables and funky ottomans around the room. Don’t stop with cocktail hour though! Incorporating multiple lounge arrangements within the reception decor offer guests an alternative to sitting at their tables all night. Also, what better way to get inch people closer to the dance floor than by bordering it with ultra posh seating? The possibilities are endless… just check out the photos above and below!

A Few New Trends

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

When we talk about new trends, we try to share ideas with you that are our own, but their are also great ideas we have heard about from others, that we must share! Sometimes, an old idea will spawn a new idea for us, or we will put our own Table 6 Productions twist on something. So, a few ideas we would to share….

* Signature Cocktails are still a hit! But Pomegranate Martinis are out…Try the Wedding Cake Martini. To die for!

Try the recipe:1/2 ounce Absolut vodka , 3 ounces Amaretto , 1/2 ounce orange juice, 1/2 ounce pineapple juice, 1 tablespoon heavy cream

* New Color Combinations – we love all the new hot color combos and have even put a few of our own together…Here are just a few!

Navy Blue/Yellow/White, Eggplant/Chocolate Brown/Copper, Sapphire Blue/Amethyst Purple/Ruby Red, Black/White Vintage Damask and Aqua/Red/Yellow, Orange/Blue/White, Pewter/Violet/Turquoise

* Pre-Cocktail Ceremonies before the ceremony – invite guests to the wedding 30 minutes before it actually starts. Have servers greet them with Champagne Cocktails, a strolling violinist, and a little nibble! This will really set the tone for a great evening!

We are constantly trying to come up with creative ideas for our brides guest books and place card displays. A few ideas we are currently doing with our brides for guest books are:

* A Jazz Record that will be signed by guests for a couple who loves music and the Groom is a trained trombonist
* A Water Fountain that will greet guests at the entrance of the reception, actually representing the Trevi Fountain in Italy, where the bride and groom got engaged. Instead os signing something, guests will be asked to make a wish for the couple with an Italian coin and asked to throw it into the “Trevi Fountain” (*later – the couple will display the coins on their mantle)
* A Vintage Photo Booth will be used to take strips of photos of the guests, then they will be placed inside a black album and guests will sign by their photos.
* Postcards will be printed with the couples mailing address and stamped. Then the guests will fill out the postcard and place it inside a metal mailbox at the reception. The postcards will then be mailed out and waiting in the couple’s mailbox for them to read when they return from their honeymoon.

A few ideas we have tried for place card displays are:

* Potpourri Sachets with Suction Cups that will hang from inside a window with the guests name and table on it
* Monogrammed Shot Glasses with a Lemon Slice Place Card on the rim that will be used later for a Lemoncello toast to the Bride & Groom, in place of Champagne
* A Deck of Pink Playing Cards inside a Pink Satin Pillow Bag with a Rhinestone “B” on the front and a wrap with the Name and Table #
* A “Wall” made of fabric with the place cards tucked inside or pinned to the “wall”
* An Old Wheel Barrel filled with Mosses and Dried Grasses with Swirly Brown Picks holding each place card
* An old restored “shabby chic” wooden door leaning against the wall with ribbons hanging from it showing the place cards displayed
